Thinking Day 2018

Thinking day

The whole school celebrated Easter today with Thinking Day. The children experienced 5 different 'stations' about Holy Week and Easter in 5 different classrooms. Staff had used lots of resources (and much imagination) to recreate various scenes from the Easter story. The children worked in groups across the years. Many ideas and thoughts were shared throughout the school. Thanks to all the staff, especially Mrs Leake who coordinated the occasion, and also to Dominic and Lesley who also came in to join us and help. Please have a look at the Gallery for some photos of Thinking Day. Some of them are rather dark because low lighting and candlelight was used in a few rooms for ambience/effect.

Year 6 Girls' Athletics

girls athletics

A big WELL DONE to the Year 6 girls who competed in the indoor athletics finals on Tuesday.  The standard was very high and, even though we had some impressive victories on the track, it was impossible to predict how we had done overall.  Unfortunately we didn’t make it through to County Finals this time but the team spirit was great and all of the girls should be very proud of their individual performances.

Enthusiastic Elm!

Lucas Olivia

Enthusiastic Elm pupils have really enjoyed their Geography theme.
Oscar shared photos from a family holiday to Mount Etna.  Benjamin drew an annotated volcano diagram at home.
Jake and Luca brought in useful reference books.
Poppy showed us lava from Mount Kilimanjaro.
Kenan created a PowerPoint about natural disasters and their causes.
Olivia and Luca made realistic models of a volcano and a tsunami.
The whole class have carried out tornado and volcano experiments in science lessons (a little messy!) and created detailed earthquake safety leaflets.
New school atlases have also helped them to study our ‘restless earth’ and plate tectonics in more detail.
Thank you to the children and their families for helping to bring our topic to life!
