Netball Team

Netball21.9.18
Our Netball team played in their first tournament of the season, winning 3 matches, drawing 1 match and only losing 1 match. They were rewarded in assembly with certificates for a great result and I also fed back to them about their exceptional behaviour and sportsmanship, that other members of staff commented upon. Thank you again to parents who gave lifts and to Miss Rolland, Mrs Fincham and Miss Prentice for accompanying the teams.

Summer Concert 2018

Last Sunday saw our first Summer Concert, during which the audience enjoyed fabulous performances from the school choir, the school orchestra, various flute and recorder groups as well as soloists on various instruments. It was a feast for the ears, and huge thanks must go to Mrs Hewitt, Mrs Wadey and Mrs Jellett for organising this wonderful experience for the children, and accompanying their performances.

Success at The Mallon Challenge

A group of year 6's went to Monks Walk last week to join up with other children from local schools to create a Monks Walk syndicate super team. This team competed against other syndicates in various sports including netball, hockey, football and athletics. The Monks Walk team was very successful, winning the netball, hockey and boys' football, and eventually becoming the overall winners of the challenge! We were very proud of the children and their team, and brought the cup home for Mr Mallon.

Beech Class enjoyed a fabulous trip to Fairlands Valley last week where the children enjoyed canoeing, climbing and the high ropes  The highlight of the day was raft building and then getting very wet!

Each class was busy testing out and scrutinising different scientific activities, and drawing various conclusions. They have also been thinking about ‘Clean Air Day’ and how we can all play a part in improving our environment. Harrison - Teen Author Visit

Harrison, a teen author, visited the school this week to talk about crreative writing. Harrison is 15 years old and has already had two books published, having written his first at the age of 9. He was very inspiring and the children were really engaged. Some were lucky enough to buy signed copies of his books.

Careers Fair

Careers Fair

Year 6 attended an amazing careers fair last week at Oaklands School. There were paramedics, engineers, artists, authors, hospitality workers, teachers (!) and many other professions represented. It was very interesting and a superb insight into what is out there for our aspiring children. Thank you to all the adults who got them there and back safely to enable them to do this.
