Au Revoir to Lucy...

20151014 152548

As you will probably all know the lovely Lucy Dallas, vicar of St Michael's Church, and friend, church link and governor to the school, is moving on to a new and exciting role this week. Lucy and her family are moving to Elstree where she will be embarking on a new adventure which she is very much looking forward to. However, as with all new adventures, it also means leaving behind people and places that you love. She will be very sadly missed, but we all wish every happiness and success to her and her family in Elstree, and would like to thank her for all her tireless work, support and love over the years that she has spent in Woolmer Green. Lucy gave a final Collective Worship service at school last week, during which classes presented her with cards that they had made, and the school gave her some beautiful flowers too. Lucy kindly presented the school with an icon of St Michael's which will see in the school in due course.

Thank you to Mrs Webber

20151023 103317

Jean Webber has finally hung up her lollipop, and will no longer be guiding our children safely across the B197 in the mornings and afternoons. She will, however, continue to play an active role in the school in other ways. We would like to thank Jean for looking after us all for so long, and wish her many happy lie-ins! The school presented her with some flowers and a fabulous cake made with love by the Holden girls.

A painting of the school is given to Mr Mallon

IMG 2110

This week Mr Mallon received a very unexpected and wonderful gift from a lady called Christina May. The gift is a painting of our school, and with it was a card from Christina. Her mother taught at St Michael's Woolmer Green from 1971 until July 1991. The painting was painted by a relative of the Head Teacher at the time and was presented to Jean Harvey (Christina's mother) on her retirement. Now all we have to do is find a suitable place in the school to hang it. For more details of this lovely story, and to see the card that Christina sent, please see "The History of St Michael's" page of this website.
