Our New School Display

Newdisplay2

You will remember last year our school display was a rainbow of hands. This year each child in the school has written their name on a heart. This theme fits in really well with our school prayer that ends with, ’So many hearts make a school’. Thank you to Mrs Leake for creating the new display, which looks beautiful.

Playing the Piano for the Malaysian Embassy

Junior Travel Ambassadors

JTAs

I spent some time with Year 5 talking through the role of a Junior Travel Ambassador. The children had lots of ideas to contribute and were passionate about improving safety around our school and local area. Those that wished to, filled out an application form and on Tuesday, Chi, from the Herts Road Safety Team came in to award the successful candidates with their JTA packs. Well done to Grace M, Benjamin, Millie, Grace R, Niamh and Megan. We look forward to hearing about all your fantastic ideas and plans. Since this photograph was taken the enthusiastic JTAs have come up with a fantastic initiative to reward safe parking with 'green' parking tickets which they leave on cars outside the school, and also leaving less desirable 'red' parking tickets/warnings on cars which are parked in unsafe places near the school.

Tag Rugby

TAG28.9 4

Year 5 and Year 6 mixed teams represented St. Michael’s at the Saracens tournament. Both teams demonstrated good rugby skills and there were some impressive ‘trys’ and ‘tags’. Scores were close in all games and the teams certainly embraced the challenge!  Well played everyone and thank you to Miss Prentice and Miss Rolland for accompanying the team.

Netball Team

Netball21.9.18
Our Netball team played in their first tournament of the season, winning 3 matches, drawing 1 match and only losing 1 match. They were rewarded in assembly with certificates for a great result and I also fed back to them about their exceptional behaviour and sportsmanship, that other members of staff commented upon. Thank you again to parents who gave lifts and to Miss Rolland, Mrs Fincham and Miss Prentice for accompanying the teams.

Success at The Mallon Challenge

download

A group of year 6's went to Monks Walk last week to join up with other children from local schools to create a Monks Walk syndicate super team. This team competed against other syndicates in various sports including netball, hockey, football and athletics. The Monks Walk team was very successful, winning the netball, hockey and boys' football, and eventually becoming the overall winners of the challenge! We were very proud of the children and their team, and brought the cup home for Mr Mallon.
