At St Michael's we believe that The Arts are a fundamental part of the curriculum and define the arts as music, dance, drama, art and literature. We aim to develop a life-long interest and appreciation for the Arts. We believe that the Arts offer opportunities for the children to explore, express and communicate their feelings whilst gaining experiences of the wider world.

Choir Choir 2

On Saturday 9th December 2017 our choir joined Knebworth Community Chorus for their 'Carols for Christmas' concert. The choir performed: 'One World,' 'Turn Down The Lights,' 'I Saw Three Ships' and 'Get on Board this Train.' They sang beautifully, and received many compliments both from the audience and the Community Chorus. Thank you Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Wadey for all your efforts and thank you to all the parents who came along to support the children.
In the second half there were performances from some St Michael's instrumentalists. Isabelle and Harriet played a recorder duet 'Spring from The Four Seasons' by Vivaldi. William played two pieces on piano and Megan two on violin. We were really pleased to welcome back a former St Michael's pupil Erine, now in Y7 at Monks Walk, who performed a flute duet with Mrs Hewitt. The children performed very well and received terrific applause from the audience!

Through experiencing the Arts, children develop their creativity, self-esteem and confidence. All children regularly participate in key stage performances and all the Arts play a key part in class assemblies and Collective Worship. During the year we offer a variety of outings, take part in different Arts projects, competitions etc. We have peripatetic teachers who visit the school weekly to teach individual or group instrumental lessons. We hold an annual Arts week, which may include visiting artists or musicians. We actively encourage parental support and participation in these events so that we can draw upon the expertise within our community.
