Jan Martin

Head teacher Welcome

Welcome to St Michael’s Woolmer Green. I feel proud to be the Head Teacher of this very caring school.

Our staff work incredibly hard to create a happy, stimulating and safe environment, where your child will be able to grow in confidence and develop the skills needed to face the many challenges they will meet.

Children are individuals and we aim to cater for each of them as such, so that they can achieve their potential, both academically and socially. We want our children to develop a love of learning that will remain with them as they grow and develop into young citizens.

St Michael’s is part of a community that shares Christian values and has strong links with our nearby church. We support a variety of charities; this helps the children to think of other communities, outside of the school, both local and international and to consider others who are not as fortunate as they are.

We encourage good communication between home and school. Many parents and carers are involved in the Parent Council, which meets half termly to discuss a variety of topics and give feedback to the school about new initiatives. Some parents like to get involved by coming into school and hearing children read or help on school day trips. Others become class representatives and provide the link to ‘The Friends’ of St Michael’s, which helps to raise money towards providing community projects and special events, as well as purchasing important resources for the school.

If you are interested in finding out more about our school, we are holding ‘Open Mornings.’ Please contact the School Office and book a visit.

We look forward to seeing you!

Year 6 attended an amazing careers fair last week at Oaklands School. There were paramedics, engineers, artists, authors, hospitality workers, teachers (!) and many other professions represented. It was very interesting and a superb insight into what is out there for our aspiring children. Thank you to all the adults who got them there and back safely to enable them to do this. ...

Our school choir, under the amazing direction of Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Wadey, joined a few other schools to sing at the Tower of London! It was an increcible opportunity, and one which was enjoyed immensely. Our children sang beautifully and behaved impeccably. Thank you to all the adults who accompanied them, and especially to Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Wadey for all their organisation. Wonderful!...

This week Elm Class performed their amazing class assembly to the rest of the school and to their parents. They had learned so much about their topic and loved showing off their knowledge, as well as performing their own version of the story 'The Great Kapok Tree'. Please see the Gallery for more photographs.
